A former WWE star, who was released from the company last year, opened up on her experience with Stephanie McMahon. The star in question is Dakota Kai (aka Charlie)

Dakota Kai had been with the WWE since 2017 and gained prominence during her time in the Damage CTRL faction alongside Bayley, Iyo Sky, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. However, she was released from the company last year, and after months of in-ring absence, she recently wrestled the likes of Kris Statlander and Shotzi on EVE and House of Glory, respectively, under the name ‘Charlie.’

Although she was released from the WWE over a year ago, Stephanie McMahon recently had some nice things to say about Dakota Kai. Dakota had helped Stephanie with her match at WrestleMania 34 back in 2018, where she teamed with Triple H to take on the team of Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle in an amazing mixed tag match.

Former WWE star on her experience working with Stephanie McMahon

During her recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insights, the former WWE star, Charlie (fka Dakota Kai) was asked about Stephanie McMahon acknowledging her in a podcast. Dakota said that Stephanie is the sweetest person and recalled training with her, along with Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle, before WrestleMania 34:

Yeah, that’s so weird. I mean, she’s the sweetest person in the world and always said hello to me, but the fact that she remembers that is insane to me. Because I don’t know, again, I don’t look at myself in that light, you know what I mean? But she’s honestly one of the most sweetest people ever, and I was just grateful to be able to be in the ring with [her], training with her and Ronda and Kurt and Hunter as well”

Dakota Kai further revealed how she met Stephanie McMahon for the first time while training together back then, and how she took bumps for Stephanie in the ring:

She got to DDT me. I was like, yes! Beat me up, Stephanie. This is so freaking cool. But she’s the nicest person. I think that was our first ever time meeting. Every time after that, backstage or wherever, she would always make a point to come up to me and be like, ‘Dakota!’ I’m like, Oh my God, you know me.” [h/t chrisvanvliet.com]

While she continues to wrestle on the indies, only time will tell what the future holds for the former Damage CTRL member.
