Seth Rollins Recalls Big WWE Botch: “I Don’t Even Remember What Happened After That”
Seth Rollins had an interesting story to tell about a big match early in his WWE run that featured a major botch.
When Seth Rollins first got a singles push in the summer of 2014 as part of The Authority (led by Triple H & Stephanie McMahon), he was often accompanied by J&J Security.
J&J Security consisted of former wrestlers Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury, both of whom held WWE championships during their active careers. By 2014, they were not full-time wrestlers, and since they were shorter guys, the idea was that Rollins had these shorter veterans as his security, and they would often get beaten up, while the heel Rollins would cowardly run away, or do a cheap shot.
In June 2015, on an episode of Raw, J&J Security actually beat Rollins in a match when Dean Ambrose distracted Rollins and Mercury got a rollup pin for the win.
While speaking about that match in his role as a co-host on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Rollins spoke about a miscommunication with Noble that led to a botch in the match.
“I’m a bad guy with The Authority and I just won the world title. I have these security guards, J&J. Jamie and Joey. They’re little guys, they’re not real security guards. They’re both ex-wrestlers, both fantastic. I’m in the ring, handicapped with these guys. I’m beating up Joey and he tags in Jamie.
I’m wrestling these guys even though they’re my bodyguards. Jamie hadn’t wrestled on television in years. He’d been a backstage producer. He comes in to get his on me finally, he’s so excited. He’s knocking me down all over the place. He shoots me off the rope and does this normal move, it’s called a Kitchen Sink in our world. It’s just a low knee to the gut.
It’s so easy and every time you learn it, it’s with the left knee. Always with the left. For some reason, Jamie in his excitement — I don’t know if he never learned the right way, but he did it with his right knee.”
Seth Rollins Admits “I Lost It” After Spot Went Wrong With Jamie Noble
The former WWE Champion Rollins admits that he didn’t react well after things went wrong in the match.
“I lost it. I don’t even remember what happened after that. Boom, just head first. I’m diving to go over and he’s a little bit shorter than me, so we went face-to-face.”
As he continued, Rollins spoke about how he was able to finish the match as planned.
“I’m laying on the ground, I’m just down. I’m supposed to get up. A second later, I’m like, ‘Oh crap, I’m coming.’ I’m flying with the next thing and we move on and get it through it. I remember getting to the back and everyone’s like, ‘Are you okay?’ I’m fine, I’m fine.” (H/T Fightful)
