Triple H Allegedly Canceled Veteran’s Appearance At WWE WrestleMania
Triple H allegedly canceled a veteran’s WrestleMania appearance.
When Edge turned heel for the first time during his second WWE run, he formed the Judgment Day along with Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley.
They eventually added Finn Balor to the ranks. However, after Balor joined The Judgment Day, the group turned on Edge and kicked him out. Hence, this started a long feud between Edge and The Judgment Day. This eventually culminated in a match between Edge and Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39. Edge made his Brood entrance without the entrance theme. It was even reported that Gangrel would be involved, but that didn’t end up happening.
Gangrel claims Triple H might’ve canceled his WrestleMania appearance
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Gangrel was asked why he didn’t make an appearance at WrestleMania 39. Gangrel responded that he’s not sure what happened behind the scenes, but it could”ve been Triple H who canceled his appearance. Alternatively, he also heard from some people that Vince could’ve canceled his appearance, but he believes it was Triple H. He also claimed that this could’ve led Edge to leave for AEW the following year. And in AEW, Edge got Gangrel to make an appearance.
“I’m not sure, but I think maybe it might have been Hunter. Some people said Vince, but I think it might have been Hunter. Somebody kiboshed it. So when that didn’t go down, he left the next year to AEW. Then he wanted to make sure that he’s a guy that wants to have his way. Don’t tell him no on something, he’s gonna figure it out. So in AEW, he had me come back and come up to the ring and stuff like that.”
When asked if he was close to appearing at WrestleMania 39, the wrestling veteran replied that in Edge’s mind he was close, but not in WWE’s mind.
“In Edge’s mind? Yes. He was trying hard, but in their minds, no, I don’t think so.” [H/T Chrisvanvliet.com]
Gangrel played such an instrumental role in Edge’s early career. They were together in a faction called The Brood along with Christian Cage. Hence, it would’ve been special for Edge to have Gangrel by his side at WrestleMania 39. Unfortunately, that didn’t end up happening in WWE.
