Zaria Passes Surprise Test After Last-Minute WWE NXT Twist

Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT featured two huge title matches, which saw both the NXT Tag Team Championships and the Women’s North American Championship be defended on the show.

Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes kicked off the night with their defense of the Tag Team Championships against Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux, thanks to some help from their The Vanity Project teammates Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood.

The next title match was one that came as a surprise to everyone, including the champion. Zaria was scheduled to defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Layla Diggs tonight.

However, Diggs suffered an injury during a live event this past weekend, rendering her unable to compete. This led Robert Stone to announce that Zaria would defend her title against Izzi Dame, Lizzy Rain, and Nikita Lyons in a fatal-four-way.

Zaria puts in a massive display as NXT Champion

The champion wasn’t prepared to defend her title against three women tonight, but came out victorious regardless. The match saw all four competitors come close to winning before Lizzy and Izzi started brawling with each other.

Natalya and Karmen Petrovic then came out to take the champion out to give Lyons the win. However, Jaida Parker came out to settle scores with them and began brawling with Natalya.

This delay allowed Zaria to take out Petrovic with a spear before turning her attention to Nikita. As soon as the two women entered the ring, Zaria hit a massive Spear and the F5 on her to pick up the win and retain her NXT Women’s NA Championship.
