A WWE legend has just dropped a bombshell.

RVD is one of the most well-known figures in the world of professional wrestling. He first gained traction in ECW, where he was known for his innovative offense in the ring. After a successful run in ECW, RVD moved to WWE.

Under the WWE banner, RVD found a lot of success in the midcard. He reached the peak of his career when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase and then cashed it in to become the WWE Champion. After leaving WWE, RVD went to TNA Wrestling, where he had another good run. Just like his professional career had its fair share of ups and downs, the same can be said about his personal life. RVD married his first wife, Sonia Van Dam, in 1998. The couple stayed together until 2018, when they filed for divorce. RVD then married Katie Forbes in 2021.

WWE legend RVD has opened up about his first marriage

While speaking on his YouTube channel, a fan informed him that he had separated from a toxic wife who gaslit him. The WWE legend then opened up about his first marriage, saying that he fought hard to stay married because he thought divorce was equal to failure. However, in hindsight, RVD is thankful he got out of his first marriage. He even revealed that his ex-wife was having an affair with the maintenance guy.

“I fought hard to try to keep my marriage going because I looked at it as being a failure, which maybe you did too as far as splitting goes. So, I really had no choice. There was no way that I could make that b**ch stay.

In hindsight, having so much time now and seeing the bigger picture—because you’re never able to see the whole picture, you can only see up until now, and as time goes on, you’re always able to see a bigger picture—I’m so thankful.

I don’t even care that she was f*cking the maintenance guy. I’m glad. I want to thank him for f*cking taking that toxic, hateful b**ch away from me.”

Speaking on his first marriage, the WWE legend said that he and his ex-wife shouldn’t have been with each other since they are completely different people.

“We certainly should not have been with each other. We’re two way different people who find happiness in completely different ways, and our relationship sucked.

Maybe it’s not like that. Although I’m pretty sure it is like that with whoever she’s going to be with, because I can’t imagine her not being miserable. But at the same time, I don’t give a f**k. I really don’t.”

RVD also said that he never wants to see his ex-wife again.

“I don’t ever need to see her again. And I was married for 12 years, something like that, maybe even longer.”

The WWE legend further added that his life is good now, which was never possible when he was with the wrong person.

“Right now, life has been so rewarding. It’s an abundance of love and good things happening, which was never achievable being with the wrong person. It wasn’t.

Someday, you’ll be able to be thankful if you’re not able to ride that horse all the way right now because you’re going to have mixed feelings. If you’re depressed at all, that f**ks everything up. All emotions f**k things up. But truth is, it sounds like you really did yourself a favor, and it’s never too late because alls we have is from this point on to the rest of our lives. So, congratulations.”

It looks like RVD has moved on from his first marriage and has found happiness.
