Baron Corbin’s New WWE Gimmick Officially Confirmed

Baron Corbin made his shocking return to WWE on SmackDown.

After last week’s confrontation, a match was finalized between the United States Champion Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes for the July 10 edition of the blue brand. The bout, however, was a non-title match.

The match saw both superstars equally dominate one another. Later in the bout, Hayes took out the champion by hitting The First 48. He then proceeded to climb the top turnbuckle, but was stopped in his tracks by Baron Corbin, as the fans cheered.

Corbin shoved Melo off the top to cause a disqualification. The 41-year-old proceeded to attack Trick with a few punches before hitting Hayes with his End of Days finisher.

Corbin then grabbed the newly customized United States Championship before dropping it on Williams and leaving the ring.

Baron Corbin departed WWE in late 2024 after his contract was not renewed. He continued to perform in the independent circuit, taking Bishop Dyer as his new in-ring name.

Performing as a heel in Major League Wrestling, he was recently stripped of the MLW tag titles after failing to reach an agreement on his contract renewal.

Merchandise Reveals Baron Corbin’s New WWE Gimmick

Following Baron Corbin’s return on Friday night, WWE released new merchandise, which revealed his gimmick in the company. The black T-shirt available on WWEShop carries Corbin’s name along with the moniker ‘Nomad.’

‘The Nomad’ was part of Corbin’s character when he represented Major League Wrestling. Speculations about his return gained momentum after WWE filed to trademark “The Nomad.”

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service. [H/T: Ringside News]

The gear certainly hints at Baron Corbin’s on-screen persona being modified, meaning fans can expect him to not revert to one of his previous gimmicks, allowing them to experience another one of his sides.

Furthermore, his attack on both Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes all but confirms a 3-way match for the United States Championship at a future date.
