Triple H Had No Interest In Bringing In AEW Star To WWE
According to a new report, Triple H and his creative team were not interested in pursuing an AEW star to WWE. The star in question is Jack Perry.
Jack Perry has been with All Elite Wrestling since the promotion’s inception in 2019. He has been a former World Tag Team Champion, TNT Champion, and National Champion during his tenure. It was recently reported that Perry’s contract with the company will be up soon.
After weeks of rumors and speculation, Jack Perry officially re-signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion. A vignette aired during Dynamite this week, revealing Perry has re-signed with AEW.
Even before Perry had re-signed, Tony Khan assured that the plan is for Perry to stay with All Elite Wrestling for a long time:
The plan for AEW and Jack is for Jack to be here for a long time. I have believed that Jack is a great wrestler for many years and I continue to feel that way. I like Jack very much. He has a very bright future in wrestling and a great mind for wrestling.”
It’s been really gratifying for me and fans to see the return of Jungle Jack Perry and seeing fans embrace Jack and the great matches he’s been having. The plan is for Jack Perry to be in AEW for a long time, so that’s going to happen,” Tony stated.
Triple H and WWE were not interested in signing the former AEW TNT Champion
Since Triple H has taken over as the creative head of WWE, he has brought in a lot of former AEW stars, so there was some hope that the former TNT Champion, Jack Perry could also be signed when his contract was coming up. However, Jack’s alleged real-life heat with CM Punk since their backstage altercation in 2023 was also a concern.
According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, there were “little to no discussions” within the WWE regarding the possibility of bringing in Jack Perry if he had entered free agency. Sources said that there was not much desire to bring Perry to the promotion.
The report concluded that there was a “prevailing feeling” that Jack Perry doesn’t fit in the landscape of the Stamford-based promotion currently, and he was never really a target.
