Heartbreaking News For WWE Legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson And His Fans
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to remain absent from live WWE shows.
His last appearance was at the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE, where he confronted Cody Rhodes and urged him to join forces with him. The former WWE Champion was, however, brutally turned down by The American Nightmare.
Johnson, though, had entered the Rogers Centre in Toronto with a Plan B that saw John Cena align with him and turn heel in the process.
More than one year later, fans are still expecting to see The Rock inside a wrestling ring in some capacity amid reports of a backstage power struggle between members of the TKO Group.
Dwayne Johnson is also more focused now on his Hollywood career. After making several commercially successful flicks, Johnson earned a Golden Globe Award nomination last year for portraying Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine.
While the movie was critically acclaimed, it painted a different picture at the box office, rendering it a commercial flop after making just over $21 million on a $50 million budget.
Setback Expected For The Rock’s Live Adaptation Of Moana
The Rock’s upcoming movie is the live adaptation of the 2016 animated film Moana and is scheduled to release on July 10.
Made on a colossal budget of $250 million, it stars Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as Maui from the animated flick, and Catherine Laga’aia as the titular character.
While Dwayne Johnson is busy promoting the movie, an unfortunate update has emerged regarding its potential earnings.
According to a tweet from Global Box Office, Moana has managed to sell only $4 million in pre-sales. It speculated that the movie might not even make $50 million on its debut in the United States.
Furthermore, its global opening, which was initially speculated to be around $130 million, might not even reach $100 million.
MOANA has sold only $4M in pre-sales after nearly one month.
Starring Dwayne Johnson, the movie might not even reach $50M in its domestic debut.

Elsewhere, it is being claimed that while the critics have been happy with the casting, they believed that the live-action film was similar to the 2016 animated film and lacked originality.
Whether or not the predictions for The Rock’s upcoming movie become a reality remains to be seen. His WWE future has also remained a huge topic of discussion among fans.
