Ex-Champion Undergoes Surgery After WWE SmackDown: “Nothing Will Ever Be The Same Again”
An ex-champion is scheduled to undergo surgery after making their first WWE appearance.
El Hijo del Vikingo is a former 2-time AAA Mega Champion and the reigning Latin American Champion in the Mexican Lucha Libre promotion.
In late 2025, Vikingo turned heel at Héroes Inmortales after being booed by the fans for months. In November, his heel turn was confirmed after he walked out on Dragon Lee during a tag team match against Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser).
He subsequently aligned with Omos and Dorian Roldán, officially forming El Ojo.
During Week 1 of Noche de Los Grandes, he defeated El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. to become the new AAA Latin American Champion.
On the July 3 edition of WWE SmackDown, he made his first appearance for the Stamford promotion, challenging Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
In the time allotted to the two wrestlers on a 2-hour show, both Fenix and Vikingo produced the match of the night, with the champion retaining his title.
Elsewhere on NXT, it was announced that Vikingo would defend his title against EK Prosper. However, on the day of his title defense, he was assaulted backstage by Keanu Carver, thus getting written off.
Cody Hays of False Finish later reported that the 29-year-old suffered a left ACL injury while preparing for the match and was expected to be on the shelf for an indefinite period.
Vikingo, meanwhile, shared a video montage comprising pictures of his visit to the doctor. In some of the photos, he can be seen on crutches.
A more recent video montage showed him in a hospital gown and on a hospital bed ahead of his scheduled surgery on Tuesday. The Spanish caption translated to English as follows:
Nothing will ever be the same again, but everything can be better than it ever was. HDLV family, everything was a success, thank God. Thank you, my beautiful girl.

Former WWE Champion Announced For Raw Appearance
On the July 6 edition of WWE Raw, the commentators revealed that Brock Lesnar would make an appearance next week.
He was last seen on the red brand on June 29, where he confronted Oba Femi following the latter’s King of the Ring tournament victory at WWE Night of Champions.
In his segment, Lesnar accused The Ruler of talking behind his back before attacking him with a low blow. The Beast Incarnate then proceeded to lay out the 28-year-old with an F5.
Just as Lesnar was heading back, Oba Femi challenged him for a match at WWE SummerSlam, which Lesnar accepted, and also set the stipulation as a Hell in a Cell match.
While the August bout will be Femi’s first inside the Hell in a Cell structure, the same will not apply to Lesnar. Brock has previously competed in two HIAC matches, where he is undefeated.
It remains to be seen if Lesnar has anything else on the agenda besides his upcoming bout against Femi at SummerSlam in Minnesota.
