WWE Allegedly Made An Insulting Offer To Sheamus
Sheamus has decided to leave WWE following failed contract negotiations.
It was recently reported that The Celtic Warrior is leaving WWE soon. He confirmed the news when he made some huge changes to his official X profile. He changed his name from “Sheamus” to “S. Farrelly,” also removed “WWE” from his bio, and replaced it with “Pro Wrestler.”
WWE recently restructured his current contract and offered an extension with less pay, which he rejected. According to a new report, the offer was not just low, but “insultingly” low.
Sheamus Is Still Under WWE Contract, But He’s Done With WWE
Fightful Select reports that “Sheamus is done with WWE, but is still under contract as of this moment.”
He had signed a new contract with WWE in 2023, which was a five-year deal. But “somehow” his contract is set to expire soon under unclear circumstances. He was offered “a restructured extension,” which he rejected, choosing to part ways with the company instead.
A WWE source told Fightful that The Celtic Warrior “was offered less money to stay in WWE,” which was considered an insult after all the work he had put in the company over the last two decades.
There is a lot of frustration backstage in WWE regarding the situation, as per Sportskeeda Wrestling. WWE stars are reportedly unhappy with the contract restructuring TKO has been implementing.
They were already upset after The New Day’s situation became public, and now many are equally frustrated by what has happened with the 48-year-old veteran. Although Sheamus hasn’t been around backstage much recently, he remains a well-liked and respected wrestler.
Many in WWE think highly of him and feel it doesn’t make sense for him to no longer be with the company. Given Sheamus’ popularity and experience in the wrestling business, he is expected to attract interest from some of the top promotions in the industry.
According to rumors, Sheamus could make AEW his next home. His former WWE tag team partner, Cesaro, now known as Claudio Castagnoli in AEW, is expected to make a strong push for Tony Khan to sign him.
