Top Star Expected To Push For Sheamus’ Arrival In AEW Following His WWE Departure
Sheamus has officially left WWE, and word on the street is that he might land in AEW.
The Celtic Warrior had been out of action due to an injury since November 2025. Fans were hoping to see him return to WWE TV soon. However, in a shocking turn of events, the 48-year-old veteran has departed from the company.
According to reports, WWE offered a pay cut in his restructured contract extension, which he refused, thereby choosing to part ways with the promotion after his deal ended. This marked the end of his 20-year tenure with the company.
Following his exit from WWE, he changed his social media bio by removing “WWE” and replacing it with “pro wrestler.” He also changed his WWE ring name from “Sheamus” to his real name, “S. Farrelly.”
According to reports, one of the top destinations the Irish wrestler might land is AEW, and AEW star Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro in WWE) might push Tony Khan to sign him.
Claudio Castagnoli Expected To Push For Sheamus In AEW
Fightful Select released a new report on Sheamus’ WWE departure, noting that AEW had no idea the Dublin-born wrestler was planning to leave WWE. The report added that Sheamus is close friends with AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli, hence the AEW star is expected to push for his former WWE tag team partner in AEW.
Per Fightful Select, AEW is not the only place Sheamus and Claudio can work together. The two stars can revive their tag team in CMLL or the independent scene.
Sheamus is expected to be a huge attraction in the free-agent market, both domestically and internationally, as well as on the signing and convention scene. He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
While Claudio is expected to welcome the ex-WWE star with open arms, many other wrestlers are against the idea. According to Bryan Alvarez, multiple AEW stars don’t want Sheamus to join AEW, not because they dislike him, but because they feel he’ll steal their spot on weekly television.
