Backstage Reason Behind Sheamus’ WWE Exit Revealed
A new report revealed the potential reason why Sheamus is leaving WWE.
Sheamus first joined the WWE through its developmental territory, FCW, back in 2007. He made his official main roster debut in 2009 and also became the World Champion months later. The Celtic Warrior went on to continue his rise and became a multi-time world champion during his tenure, and gave great in-ring performances on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, there are rumors of Sheamus potentially leaving the WWE soon. The Celtic Warrior wrestled his last match on RAW in November last year, where he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat the Judgment Day.
Sheamus has been out of action for months due to injury, and he also provided a health update a few months back, stating the following:
Yeah, this one has been difficult. It kind of came out of nowhere. I started noticing my shoulder around May-June at Clash in Paris against Rusev. It was bothering me and I thought I tore it. I got a couple of shots in there and it felt good for a little while, but ultimately it was just a matter of time before it stopped moving on me.”
“I tried to push through it to the point where I couldn’t move my arms. I had surgery on December 30. Ever since then, I’ve been rehabbing. I’m dying to get back in the ring and back to work. I have cabin fever.”
Reason why Sheamus is on the verge of leaving the WWE
Amid the rumors of Sheamus leaving WWE soon, Dave Meltzer reported the reason for his departure in a new report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer noted that Sheamus will leave WWE after his contract expires, as he was asked to take a pay cut, which he refused, similar to the New Day situation:
The big news today is that Sheamus will be leaving WWE soon as his contract is expiring and was offered a pay cut so decided to leave. It’s identical to the Kofi Kingson and Xavier Woods situation. “
Dave Meltzer also noted that TKO intends to pay less to the people who don’t move business, citing Sheamus:
The basic thing is TKO is in the business of paying stars incredible amounts of money who move business and less so in paying those who don’t move business, especially given Sheamus is 48 and has been hurt a lot.” [H/T Sportskeeda Wrestling]
