Tony Khan Officially Announces Ex-Champion Is Returning To AEW After Almost 4 Months
Tony Khan announced the return of a familiar face to AEW.
The last time that “Hangman” Adam Page was seen at an AEW event was at the Revolution PPV on March 15, when he faced Maxwell Jacob Friedman for the AEW World Title.
Going into that match, many people considered Hangman the favorite since it was a Texas Death Match, which is a specialty of Hangman. Instead, MJF found a way to win their grueling, bloody battle by using a chain and the infamous Dynamite Diamond Ring to knock Hangman out.
The agreed-upon stipulation going into the match was that if Hangman lost, then he would never be able to challenge for the AEW World Title ever again. It’s a match stipulation that Cody Rhodes lost in AEW’s first year, and it happened to Hangman, too, which was surprising for the former AEW World Champion.
In a post on X/Twitter, AEW’s Owner, CEO & GM Tony Khan announced that “Hangman” Adam Page will make his long-awaited AEW return after four months on the Saturday, July 12th edition of Collision in Roanoke, Virginia.

It’s likely that Hangman’s return to AEW TV will set up a feud or perhaps a match, but for now, all Tony Khan is saying is that Hangman will kick off Collision in his home state of Virginia.
In other AEW news, Hangman’s biggest rival, MJF, lost the AEW World Title on Dynamite on July 8th when Kenny Omega beat him to become a 2-time AEW World Champion.
Tony Khan Had Doubts About AEW World Title Stipulation
Regarding the stipulation that if a wrestler loses a World Title match, they never get a shot at the title, Tony Khan recently admitted that he had doubts about it when Cody Rhodes did it for his Full Gear 2019 match with Chris Jericho, who beat Rhodes to retain the AEW World Title.
“In the case of Cody, it was Cody’s idea to do that. I did have some reservations about it at that time. He felt pretty strongly about it, and that’s how it came to be. I went along because I can see why he wanted to have that, and it would certainly build unpredictability around the event. It did add intrigue, and that was a great show and a great match.”
Of course, Tony Khan said it was a great show and a great match since he’s known to say that about most things in AEW. Khan admitted that he went along with Cody’s idea because it was a way to elevate the TNT Title.
“The aftermath did create challenges. Not long after that, the pandemic hit, and I had the idea for the TNT Championship, and I think Cody was great as the TNT champion, to be the first champion and defending the title on TV. I did have reservations about [him not getting a world title shot], but it was something he felt pretty strongly about, so I went along with it.”
Tony Khan and AEW’s next PPV is the first-ever Redemption PPV on July 26th in Montreal.
