Cody Rhodes made an interesting remark about a change to his WWE presentation if he became a heel.

The former 3-time Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been arguably WWE’s biggest babyface in the four-plus years since he returned to the company at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.

Since then, it seems like every former wrestling personality with a podcast and many fans has been pitching for Rhodes to go heel because that’s what pro wrestlers do. They change things up because that’s just the nature of the business.

In a recent interview with E! News, Cody Rhodes was asked about The Bloodline group and who has the best theme music in that group, which led to an interesting remark at the end of his answer about his own song, Kingdom.

“I think probably easily Jey, but then Roman’s hits in a really… I think the adult fan, he checks every box. It hits in this big, epic, orchestral way, and I think there’s a secret. The song is like the Shield song, I think.

I don’t know the deets on it, but I do know that when it hits, it hits in you as well. Whereas Jey is more, ‘we’re all having a good time.’ There’s certain musics that when they hit, Randy’s, Punk’s, you get a sense of like, deep water here.

I like Kingdom. I’ll say this though. I spend about 40 minutes if I’m closing the show, doing the rounds at the end. I’ll spend as long as I possibly can out there. They don’t have to play Kingdom over and over again, especially when the cameras are off. We could play anything. We could play licensed music. I do love Kingdom, though. If I ever went bad, no Kingdom.”

WWE fans sing along with Kingdom when it plays during Cody Rhodes’ entrance and after he wins a match, so it’s easy to see why Rhodes would want to stop using that song if he became a heel. Fans singing along with a song is more of a babyface thing, after all.

Eric Bischoff Among Those Who Want Heel Cody Rhodes In WWE

As mentioned earlier, many people in pro wrestling, both current and past, want to see Cody Rhodes turn heel. WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff, who was a tremendous heel boss in his day, recently tried to explain why he thinks Cody needs to join the dark side as a heel.

“I think Cody has to turn heel. I mean, I feel that strongly about it because he’s done—he’s played this character out and you’ve squeezed every… No, you haven’t. You’ve still got some juice left in that lemon. Let it go while there’s still juice in it because you can come back to it at some point. So, don’t kill it. But he needs that. WWE needs that.

WWE needs a vicious heel, like a lie, cheat, you know, cheating kind of heel, not a badass heel. Badass heels aren’t really heels. Those big larger-than-life just monsters that look like they could just rip the head off anybody that steps in the ring with them. Yeah, those are really cool, but they’re not heels.

He needs somebody slippery, somebody greasy, somebody that’s credible physically, you know, he can, but prefer the greasy way out.”

Whether he goes heel or not, Cody Rhodes has a huge opportunity at SummerSlam as he challenges CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Here’s the lineup so far.

* Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
