Major Title Officially Vacated Ahead Of WWE RAW

A few days ahead of WWE Raw, a major championship was vacated in AAA Lucha Libre.

On the July 11 edition of AAA on FOX, general manager Rey Mysterio found himself in a predicament when Dorian Roldán and Omos came to the ring with the Latin American Championship.

The title had been held by El Hijo del Vikingo, who is an associate of Roldán and Omos as part of the El Ojo faction. Vikingo recently competed on SmackDown, where he successfully defended his title against Dragon Lee.

He was also announced to defend the belt against EK Prosper on WWE NXT. However, a backstage attack rendered him unable to wrestle.

The backstage incident was written as part of the storyline due to Vikingo dealing with a legitimate injury. The 29-year-old sustained a left ACL injury while preparing for the match.

As a result, he recently underwent surgery and is expected to be on the shelf for an extended duration. Vikingo shared a video montage on his Instagram account, where one of the pictures showed him wearing a hospital gown before surgery.

WWE Hall Of Famer Rey Mysterio Prevents Title Handover

On Saturday, Dorian Roldán and Omos carried El Hijo del Vikingo’s AAA Latin American Championship to the ring.

Roldán laid the blame for the injury on Mysterio by claiming that his decision to allow Vikingo to compete on SmackDown was unwarranted. He even threatened to sue the WWE Hall of Famer.

He then proceeded to name Omos as the new Latin American Champion, stating that he had the power and authority to do it.

However, Mysterio would not allow it, demanding that Omos return the title to him. While the Nigerian giant was reluctant at first, he begrudgingly handed over the belt after being threatened with suspension.

Rey declared that the AAA Latin American Championship was now officially vacant and that he would reveal next week how a new champion would be crowned.

At this moment, it is unclear what Mysterio’s approach will be toward crowning a new champion. Omos might yet be in contention to win it.
