Tony Khan began pushing Kevin Knight in AEW in the second-half of 2025.

The push saw him become a 2-time Trios Champion. On the April 12, 2026, edition of Dynamite, Knight became the AEW TNT Champion by winning a Casino Gauntlet match, which also featured Tommaso Ciampa, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, RUSH, El Clon, Mike Bailey, Bandido, Daniel Garcia, and Anthony Bowens.

He turned heel at Double Or Nothing by attacking Darby Allin after the latter dropped the World Championship to MJF, who would have been forced to get his head shaved had he lost.

On one of the following Dynamite tapings, he was introduced as the newest member of the Don Callis Family, thus severing his association with Mike Bailey and disbanding the two-man group called JetSpeed.

The decision has received criticism from viewers who believe that the 29-year-old has all the essential qualities to be a standalone guy and still win championships without external help.

While speaking on a recent episode of The Coach & Bro podcast, both Jonathan Coachman and former WWE head writer Vince Russo called Kevin Knight’s situation a creative mistake.

Coachman: As a creative head, would you ever make him part of a faction that has 15 people in it?

Russo: Absolutely not because he’s gonna get lost in the shuffle. When you have a faction like that, it’s gonna be impossible to get everybody in that faction over. It’s just impossible to do. [34:16 onward]

Kevin Knight Gets Title Shot Versus Kenny Omega At AEW Redemption

For weeks, Kevin Knight has staked a claim to the AEW World Championship, even when MJF was the champion and had a working relationship with the Don Callis Family.

Knight has accused MJF of going back on his word of giving him a title shot, referring to him as Maxwell Jacob ‘Fraudman.’

MJF lost the world title to Kenny Omega last week, despite adding the stipulation that if Omega lost, he could never challenge for the belt again.

On July 15, Omega was all set to celebrate his title win when he was interrupted by The Young Bucks, who presented him with the traditional championship, replacing MJF’s Triple B in the process.

Shortly afterward, Knight made his presence felt, demanding a title shot.

Kenny Omega questioned Knight’s intention of joining hands with Don Callis, stating that he was good on his own two feet.

Omega said that if he agreed to defend his title at AEW Redemption, he would expect to face Kevin ‘The Jet’ Knight and not Kevin “Don Callis’ Lapdog” Knight.

In response, Knight claimed that there was no goodness left in his heart, but only greatness before striking the champion in the forehead with the microphone.

He was soon attacked by Darby Allin, who has wanted to get his hands on Knight for turning on him at Double Or Nothing.

Next week on Dynamite, Knight will defend the TNT Championship against Allin.
