Britt Baker’s Long-Awaited AEW Return Mapped Out
A former WWE name mapped out how Britt Baker could return to AEW.
Britt Baker was one of the first female wrestlers to sign with AEW in 2019. She was even considered a pillar in the women’s division during the promotion’s early days.
During the company’s early days, Britt Baker reigned as the Women’s World Champion. However, health issues affected her career and forced her to take a long break. When she returned to the ring, she had to take a backseat to some of the other women in the division, like Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone. Additionally, Britt was reportedly involved in a backstage altercation with MJF. Baker has not competed in AEW since November 2024 despite being healthy, which has kept a lot of fans guessing the reason for her absence.
Vince Russo says how he would book Britt Baker’s AEW return
During a recent edition of Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ The Coach & Bro Show, Jonathan Coachman asked Vince Russo how he would book Britt Baker’s AEW return. The former WWE writer said that he would book a shoot angle where she explains why she was gone for so long.
“I would shoot with it. I would want to hear from her why she was away for so long. If she has a story to tell, if there’s animosity, if there’s heat, I wanna hear that. I want to really understand the reason why. That’s what I want to see. To bring her back and not mention why she was away for so long, man, I ain’t buying that. I wanna know what happened. If I’m a fan of AEW, you owe that to me.”
Jonathan Coachman said that AEW should not make the same mistake they did with Mercedes Mone where she returned as a wild card with no explanation given as to why she was gone for so many months. He also agreed that Russo’s approach would be the best way to go.
“Like we saw with Mercedes just now. She was gone for six months, and then they bring her back as a wild card in a tournament instead of, why did she miss six months? And she went on her own story, and she was like, ‘I was tired. I was exhausted.’ 16 years of grinding. I wanna hear that story, because now I’m buying into you, right? If you’re Britt Baker, we’ve seen Britt, she looks better than she’s ever looked. And she’s on red carpets. She’s out there doing work. And every time she is asked about AEW, she’s like, ‘I’m ready to go. I’m ready to go.’ So I think your approach would be the best approach.”
Russo further added that Britt Baker could even call Tony Khan out and confront him.
“Absolutely, man. Tell your story. Tell your story. You wanna confront Tony Khan, call him out and confront him.”
Coachman added that this would add another layer to Tony Khan and give him a bit of an edge.
“Can you imagine too? That would add a layer to Tony Khan. Right? Give him a little bit of an edge. Tony, why didn’t you? Well, I didn’t want to. Oh, that’d be amazing. That’d be amazing.”
It remains to be seen when Britt Baker will make her AEW return.
