WWE Legend Eyes In-Ring Return After 4 Years To Face Trick Williams

Whether or not Trick Williams’ United States Championship run has been a success is in the eye of the beholder.

Regardless, the 32-year-old remains a popular figure in WWE as well as with a large section of the fan base.

Williams became the men’s US Champion at WrestleMania 42, where he defeated Sami Zayn. It is worth noting that he is not a defending champion like his predecessors who put the title on the line week in and week out.

He is currently involved in a feud with Carmelo Hayes, who has previously held the aforementioned title, with Ricky Saints occasionally interjecting himself.

His last match against Hayes was during the July 10 edition of WWE SmackDown, which ended in a No Contest after the returning Baron Corbin attacked both wrestlers. It is now being speculated that the feud could become a three-way affair.

Booker T Contemplates Wrestling Trick Williams At WWE SummerSlam 2027

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has been Trick Williams’ mentor. Williams has referenced him as his ‘childhood hero’ and even performs a handful of movesets in his matches that belong to the 61-year-old.

While the two share a cordial relationship on and off-screen, their association may come to a temporary standstill around SummerSlam next year after their latest exchange.

Williams recently appeared on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast virtually, where he spoke about potentially stepping into the ring with Book.

SummerSlam next year. At SummerSlam, I’mma say, Book, in the year 2027… 23 years ago, somebody made history. Two Black men main-evented SummerSlam for the first time ever.

How would you like to make yourself a two-time SummerSlam main eventer against another Black man? Not just any Black man, but the man who is your protégé, the one who you hand-sculpted yourself. Now, how would Booker T like to step into the ring with Trick Williams, with all the momentum in the world, all the eyes watching? Booker T versus Trick Williams, main event of SummerSlam for the championship!

Booker T’s last in-ring appearance in WWE was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where he came in at #21 before being eliminated by Gunther.

The former World Heavyweight Champion did not look surprised at the story pitched by Williams, admitting that the idea had previously crossed his mind.

He, however, pointed out that he had enough time to decide to turn a possibility into a reality.

I never say never. I’m never gonna close the book on any chapter. If I can will myself to do it, I will do it. If the body’s telling me, ‘Go out here and get this done,’ I’ll go out there.

He gave me a time period, 2027. That gives me time to figure out what this year is looking like for Booker T. Like, can I really hang and bang hard one more time?
