Matt Riddle took to social media to address his fans after being released from WWE.

In the wake of WWE’s merger with UFC under parent company Endeavor, more than 100 staff members were let go from the company on September 15th. While the layoffs initially affected office staff, a report indicated that talent cuts were also on the way.

Sure enough, on September 21st, multiple stars were released from their WWE contracts, including former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler. The releases have reportedly caused frustration backstage as the company announced a new huge money deal for SmackDown the very same day. A full list of talent released from WWE on the 21st can be found here.

Now, Matt Riddle has taken to social media to reveal that he has also been released from the company. He thanked his fans for their support and looked ahead to his future, writing:

“Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon”

When Did Matt Riddle Last Wrestle For WWE?

Matt Riddle was absent from the September 11th episode of Monday Night Raw as he was dealing with an illness. It was expected that he would return on September 18th, but he was once again absent from the show.

His final bout for WWE took place on the September 4th episode of Raw, where he and tag team partner Drew McIntyre were defeated by the Viking Raiders.

Riddle recently turned heads when he claimed that he was sexually assaulted by a police officer at the JFK airport. An investigation into the matter was launched, with Port Authority police saying they take the accusation very seriously.
