Popular WWE Star Survived A Serious Scare: “He Would Have Lost His Eye”
A popular WWE star nearly suffered a serious eye injury.
Ethan Page signed with WWE in 2024 after a successful run in TNA and AEW. As soon as he arrived in NXT, he won the brand’s top championship. After losing the title, he turned his attention to the NXT North American Championship.
During the course of his run in WWE NXT, Ethan Page was involved in heated feuds with several top stars. He had a memorable feud with Ricky Saints over the NXT North American Championship. However, one of their title matches nearly cost Ricky Saints his eye. On the 27th May, 2025 episode of NXT, Ricky Saints defended his North American Title against Ethan Page. During the bout, Ethan Page hit Ricky Saints with a Twisted Grin on a steel chair, which nearly injured the latter. In the end, Page managed to win the match and the title.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Ethan Page revealed that Ricky Saints nearly lost his eye after the brutal chair spot.
“So it could have been worse. And I don’t know. I know you do these great clips, and this might be a little zoom in freeze frame moment for you, but he almost lost his eye,” said Page. “After he ends up injuring his trachea across the way the chair was, the way the chair fell. I give him a twisted grin and I’m trying to pull his throat down in between the legs of the chair.”
He further continued to say that the camera caught the moment when the chair missed Ricky’s eye and grazed his cheek. The WWE star also claimed that there was a purple mark on Saints’ cheek after the spot.
“As I’m yanking him down, if you see the footage and you watch the leg closest to the camera, it literally grazes his cheek and you see his cheek after there’s a mark. He’s, it’s like purple, maybe like an inch to half an inch. He would have lost his eye.” [H/T F4Wonline]
It’s a good thing that Ricky Saints didn’t suffer a nasty eye injury during his match against Ethan Page. This could’ve put him on the sidelines for a long time or even ended his career.
