The Biggest Party of the Summer, WWE SummerSlam, is less than three weeks away, and the promotion is building towards the event with every passing episode of Monday Night RAW.

Some massive matches have already been confirmed for the event, such as the World Heavyweight Championship clash between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, CM Punk will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes.

With both World Championship matches already confirmed for the show, attention now turns towards the mid-card titles. The new number one contender for Penta’s WWE Intercontinental Championship was confirmed tonight.

A massive Gauntlet match was announced for tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, which would determine Penta’s SummerSlam challenger. Dominik Mysterio kicked off the match along with Joe Hendry as JD McDonagh remained on the sidelines.

JD distracted Hendry as he looked to gain momentum after a hard-hitting match. He turned his attention towards McDonagh for a split second, and it was enough for Mysterio to hit him with the 619 and a frog splash to pick up the win.

Je’Von Evans was the next to enter the match, and he immediately dominated Mysterio, given that he was the fresher of the two men. He was all over Dom, but JD seemed to hand him another victory in the match.

He distracted Evans as well, and Dominik hit him with a 619 as well, but before he could hit the frog splash, he was interrupted by Danhausen. Danhausen cursed Mysterio, who sent JD after him, but this allowed Evans to get back to his feet.

He evaded Dom’s attack and hit him with the OG Cutter to get the win over Dominik Mysterio. He was replaced in the match by Dragon Lee, who had an extremely entertaining match with the Young OG.

After the match seemed it would go either way as they entertained the crowd, Evans picked up the win with a surprise roll up. They shared a friendly hug after the match before Rusev’s music hit the arena.

They prepared for Rusev, but the Bulgarian Brute attacked them from behind. He took advantage of Evan’s exhaustion and dominated him throughout the match. Evans tried to fight through on every occasion during the match with Rusev.

He was caught in the Accolade on four separate occasions, but he managed to get out of it on three of them. He ultimately choked out after struggling with the fourth Accolade submission Rusev locked in.

It was then Chad Gable’s turn to enter the match, and he took the fight to Rusev almost immediately. Both men had a brutal match that left them tired, but Gable ultimately picked up the win after a surprise roll-up on his opponent.

Rusev didn’t take kindly to his loss and locked in The Accolade after the match. Ethan Page was the final entrant in the match, and Rusev left Gable in the ring for Page to pick up an easy win.

He hit him with a Big Boot and tried to go for the pin early, but Gable kicked out at two. Gable and Page then got into it with one another. Gable got into the match and turned things in his favor.

Gable went for a quick pin after hitting Ethan with an Angle Slam, but he kicked out just in time. He then tried to go for an Avalanche Body Slam, but Gable grabbed his left ankle.

He locked in the ankle lock on Page and left him reeling in the ring. Page tried to roll out of it, but Gable held on to make sure Ethan tapped out. With his win over Ethan Page, Chad Gable will now challenge Penta for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE SummerSlam.
