The WWE Hall of Famer, AJ Styles pitched the idea of the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut acquiring a promotion in a major market.

WWE has been known for acquiring a number of wrestling promotions throughout history. Last year, it was announced that the Stamford-based promotion had acquired the Mexican promotion, Lucha Libre AAA. The company has taken the Lucha Libre promotion to new heights since gaining control over it, and The Undertaker has also been on the creative team there.

Meanwhile, AJ Styles wants the WWE to have a market share on the Japanese wrestling scene as well. The current major wrestling promotions in Japan are New Japan Pro Wrestling and STARDOM, and both are in a partnership with AEW.

AJ Styles wants WWE to purchase a company in Japan

Speaking on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles said he would love for WWE to purchase a company in Japan similar to how they acquired AAA in Mexico:

I would love WWE to find a way to be in Japan, kind of like the way AAA is. We’re not changing what they’re doing. We’re not trying to change the culture. We’re just putting our spin on it. … It’s not them coming to WWE, but WWE has purchased a company in Japan. Now, we have Japan, we have Mexico.”

AJ Styles further pitched how he doesn’t want the stars of WWE’s promotion in Japan on RAW or SmackDown:

I don’t want them to come to Raw or SmackDown. I want them to be a WWE whatever in Japan. That’s what we need because we build our stars and just because we have stars that are Japanese doesn’t mean there can’t be some guys in Japan. We need those guys too. It’s endless things that we could do.”

The Phenomenal One concluded that he wants WWE to sell out Tokyo Dome again as they did back in the 1990s:

I believe that with the help of WWE, we would be able to revive Japanese wrestling to where it was. I would love to see it back where it’s the Tokyo Dome. I’m talking about not like a WrestleMania over there, I’m just saying it’s the company selling out the Tokyo Dome like it did in the early ’90s. That’s what I would want to see.” [h/t Fightful]

It will be interesting to see if WWE and TKO will give a thought to the pitch made by AJ Styles.
