Dolph Ziggler Released By WWE

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler has become the first former world champion to be released by WWE in this latest round of cuts.

Just nine days after the Endeavor takeover of WWE was completed, the sports entertainment giant began slashing its roster once again. Mass layoffs were a feature between 2020 and 2022 but since Vince McMahon’s initial retirement in the summer of 2022, they had stopped.

Mustafa Ali was the first star to announce he was no longer part of WWE and was soon followed by Emma. Since then, the names leaving have snowballed with Aliyah, Rick Boogs, Elias, Riddick Moss, Top Dolla, and Shelton Benjamin all let go. And now Fightful has reported former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler is among the names cut by the company.

Dolph Ziggler’s near two-decade WWE run at an end

Dolph Ziggler had been with WWE for nineteen years with the pinnacle of his career in the company undoubtedly coming in 2013 when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on the night after WrestleMania 29 to become World Heavyweight Champion roared on by a raucous crowd.

In the last few years, Ziggler has had a lower profile in the company but was part of a feud with Bron Breakker in 2022 that saw the veteran briefly become NXT Champion. Ziggler’s final match in the company came on the 29th of May edition of Raw when he was viciously taken out by JD McDonagh.

Interestingly, just a few days before his release, Ziggler’s brother – AEW star Ryan Nemeth – took to social media to tease what the future could hold with the Nemeth brothers both being All Elite.
