A coveted free agent was backstage at AEW Dynamite and it may have been for reasons more than just visiting friends.

It was reported over the past week that former NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille was backstage at AEW Dynamite in North Charleston, South Carolina. Those reports noted that Kamille was just there visiting friends and it wasn’t known at the time if there was anything more to it.

During her run with the NWA, the 31-year-old Kamille held the NWA Women’s title for 814 days before losing it in August 2023 to Kenzie Page.

After letting her NWA contract expire, WWE was said to have a lot of interest in signing Kamille to a deal that could see her start in NXT before going to the main roster.

More Details Emerge Regarding Kamille’s Visit To AEW

Fightful Select has reported that even though Kamille was originally at AEW Dynamite to visit friends due to being local to the area, she did speak to “several people of influence” at the show although no names were given.

As of January 19th, it is believed that Kamille hasn’t signed with any wrestling company, according to Fightful Select.

It was also added by Fightful that “overtures were made over the past couple of weeks to bring Kamille to WWE.” They also confirmed reports from other outlets like PWInsider and Haus of Wrestling that WWE was interested in signing Kamille. However, that didn’t prevent her from going to an AEW show and going backstage.

AEW recently signed Deonna Purrazzo and has already pushed her into a storyline with AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm. They also added Mariah May in late 2023 as well.

It has also been heavily rumored that Mercedes Mone is expected to join All Elite Wrestling soon even though some in WWE think she might change her mind.

If AEW were to add Kamille as well then that would be another significant move to bolster the All Elite Wrestling women’s division.
