CM Punk’s WWE Retirement Depends On One Thing

The current Undisputed WWE Champion, CM Punk disclosed what will lead to his retirement from in-ring competition.

After seven years of absence from pro wrestling, CM Punk made his return to the squared circle through AEW in 2021. He went on to become the biggest star in Tony Khan’s promotion until his exit in 2023. Punk later made his highly shocking WWE return after nearly a decade. He has been having a great second run with the Stamford-based promotion so far.

CM Punk is currently considered one of the biggest stars in WWE, as he won the World Championship two times and is the current Undisputed Champion in his current run as well. Punk main evented WrestleMania 42 earlier this year and is slated to headline SummerSlam this weekend, where he will defend his Undisputed title against Cody Rhodes.

While CM Punk continues to be on top of his game, he is now 47 years old, and many fans believe that he could retire in some time. Nevertheless, Punk has now opened up on what his in-ring retirement depends on.

CM Punk on how his remaining time in wrestling will be measured

CM Punk recently made an appearance on Busted Open’s newly launched ‘WWE Radio,’ where he was asked whether he thinks about his legacy. Punk said he doesn’t think too much, while admitting that he is closer to the end than the beginning:

I do, but not much. It’s a fleeting moment, just because I know I’m much closer to the end than I am the beginning.”

Punk further stated that he doesn’t know where the end is, but it would be measured in his health, his look, and how he feels instead of matches or the length of his contract:

Where that end is, nobody knows. I don’t even know. It’s not measured in the length of a contract. It’s not measured in matches.”

To me, honestly, it’s measured in health. It’s how I look, and more importantly, how I feel. Right now, I’ve never felt better.”

Punk concluded by talking about his recovery and said he will go until the wheels fall off:

I’m double-timing my recovery on things, which is something I’ve never been really great at. The business now allows you to fit all that in.”
