WWE Will Only Go To Saudi Arabia Under One Condition, Says Nick Khan
WWE is set to hold the 2026 Night of Champions on June 27 in Saudi Arabia. However, amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East, many are wondering whether WWE will go through with its plans.
President Nick Khan recently spoke about the matter during a TKO Town Hall, revealing that the company still plans to hold Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia this June, but only if WWE talent will be safe there.
Khan stated that the company is regularly monitoring the situation in Saudi Arabia and will proceed with its scheduled plans only if U.S. citizens are allowed into the country.
“We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there. We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there.
If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there. Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.” [H/T Post Wrestling]
WWE Reportedly Making Night of Champions Attendance Optional for Talent
Speaking on a recent edition of The Coach and Bro Show, Jonathan Coachman revealed that he had learned from a source that traveling to Saudi Arabia for WWE Night of Champions would be voluntary for WWE talent.
This means the company is giving its superstars the choice whether they want to go to Saudi Arabia and perform or skip the event. However, Coachman also added that even though WWE is allowing talent to choose, there could be repercussions for champions who refuse to go.
So, I reached out to my contact, and I said, “Is this voluntary?” Because it’s called Night of Champions. So, if you’re a champion, I would assume they expect you to go. And the message I got back was they said completely voluntary; it’s their choice, and it’s gonna be limited to just the people that are on the show.
Do you really believe, cuz you know my story. I went through it, and I got my a** beat when I said I ain’t going to Afghanistan. Do you really think in 2026 and you’re a champion, they’re going, “Hey, you don’t have to go if you don’t want to?” We know that d*mn game. [56:37 onward]
