Confirmed! Top AEW Star Will Never Challenge For World Title Again
‘Hangman’ Adam Page returned to AEW during the latest Collision taping.
On July 11, Page graced his hometown audience in Virginia by opening the show in an in-ring segment with commentator Tony Schiavone.
Schiavone welcomed the former 2-time AEW World Champion. Page, who had been on a months-long hiatus after his defeat to MJF in a Texas Death Match at Revolution, spoke about his alternate hobbies, including his love for gardening.
Page said that he returned to Roanoke with the hope of planting another seed, not knowing whether or not it would bear him any fruit in the future.
‘Hangman’ then reminded the audience that his loss to MJF meant that he could never challenge for the world championship. Page said that while no official contract was signed containing the stipulation, he was committed to complying with the agreed terms.
Page then listed the other titles in AEW, including the TNT Championship, National Championship, Continental Championship, and the International Championship. But he also posed the question of who Adam Page is without the world title.
‘And the truth is, I don’t know, but we are damn sure going to find out, aren’t we? Because tonight, tonight, I can hear his words after all these years echo back to me, truer now than ever before. I am going to have to find something else to do. And you can bet your a** I will,’ he said before exiting.
MJF Dropped The AEW World Championship On Dynamite
MJF dropped the AEW World Championship twice in 2026, the latest incident occurring on the July 8 edition of Dynamite.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman faced the challenge from Kenny Omega, and while Friedman had no intention of defending his belt against The Best Bout Machine, he would find a way to put his potential opponent at a disadvantage.
On last week’s Dynamite, Friedman put forward the same stipulation in front of Omega that he had done with Adam Page during the lead-up to their Revolution clash.
After weighing the options, Omega accepted the challenge.
On Wednesday at AEW Dynamite Beach Break, the two superstars put on a hard-fought battle. In the end, however, it was Omega who emerged triumphant after hitting multiple V Triggers and following up with the One-Winged Angel.
MJF’s plan obviously backfired, meaning he will now need to find a new way to get back into title contention.
Meanwhile, due to the title change, Kenny Omega replaces MJF to face Will Ospreay at AEW All In: London on August 30. With around 7 weeks left for All In to take place, it remains to be seen if The Salt of the Earth bags a match on the card.
