WWE’s AJ Styles Shares Secret To Incredible Physical Transformation

While he might be well into his late 40s, AJ Styles is arguably in the shape of his life. As a result, he’s managed to keep wrestling at an incredibly high level despite punishing his body in the ring for over 25 years.
During a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Styles broke down the secret behind his new look and why fans have gotten things wrong. Despite looking more muscular, Styles said he’s lighter than he was at his supposed peak.
“Everybody thinks I bulked up. I lost weight. I was not any heavier than I was before…”
Styles explained that fasting had played a big role in his transformation, and it enabled him to look more shredded than ever.
“Fasting is a big part of my diet as well.” He detailed some intense fasting periods he’s undertaken, including “a three-day fast, just water…maybe a week before I came back so I was shredded.”
The star added that he’d recently completed a six-day fast, drinking just water, before reiterating that he was forced to change his whole mindset.
AJ Styles Was Almost Forced To Retire
During the same interview, AJ Styles revealed that a freak foot injury almost ended his career. The former World Champion suffered the injury in a match against Carmelo Hayes in October, and he wouldn’t wrestle again until the 2025 Royal Rumble.
Styles explained that he initially thought he’d just broken his foot, but the reality turned out to be much worse. The star had actually suffered a Lisfranc injury, which has ended the careers of several NFL stars.
TNA legend noted that while he was able to avoid surgery, retirement was a very real possibility, and there was no guarantee physical therapy would resolve the issue.
