The finals of AEW’s Owen Hart Cup are set to take place at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door later this month, and the field for the men’s side of the tournament has been set after last week.

The men’s final will see former foe-turned-friends Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland take on each other in an attempt to win the tournament for the first time in their careers.

With the show set to take place at the Wembley Stadium in Ospreay’s hometown of London, the Aerial Assassin seems laser-focused on winning the tournament in front of his home fans.

Former AEW World Champion comes to Will Ospreay’s aid

Ahead of their encounter in the final, Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay came face-to-face tonight and had a heated discussion in the middle of the ring. Ospreay questioned Strickland for not coming to his rescue after the Death Riders attacked him at Forbidden Door last year.

He then stated that it’s his dream to win the Owen Hart Cup at the Wembley Stadium and he’ll end Swerve if that’s what it takes to achieve his dream. Swerve then dropped the F-bomb on the show, stating that he won’t just step aside to allow Ospreay to fulfill his dream.

Their conversation got heated, and Will Ospreay knocked Swerve down with a right hand. As Swerve was sitting on the floor, he was handed a steel chain by Prince Nana. Just as he was about to use it on Ospreay, the Death Riders stepped in to stop the attack from happening, and Ospreay walked back with his training partners.
