WWE Champion Cody Rhodes: “I’m Not Having Any Motherf**** Rewrite My Story”
Cody Rhodes has made a shocking comment.
Cody Rhodes is widely regarded as the face of the WWE. He showed a lot of potential ever since he first arrived in the WWE. Considering he was the son of Dusty Rhodes, people were expecting big things from him.
However, it took him a long time to finally reach the potential people saw in him. Now, Cody has come a long way. He is a multi-time World Champion and one of the biggest stars in the world of professional wrestling. He has also stepped out of Dusty Rhodes’ shadows and is building a legacy for himself. Unlike his father, Cody is determined that he won’t let others ruin his legacy.
Cody Rhodes addressed people trying to rewrite his story
During an episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Cody Rhodes said he occasionally sends out a video to people of Gary Hart talking about Dusty Rhodes.
“There’s something that there’s a video, it’s out there. I send it to people every now and then. It’s a Gary Hart of all people, manager Gary Hart, and he’s talking about Dusty. And this video is so important to me and people don’t understand why when I send it to them.”
Cody revealed that in the video, Gary Hart talks about how Crockett was a wasteland before Dusty Rhodes arrived. After Dusty’s arrival, people started making money.
“I don’t think they get why because I usually send it as my way of letting them know that you’re in that territory now. But he’s talking about Crockett and how it was a wasteland when Dusty got there. And the next thing you know, guys went from driving, you know, Hondas with matching rims that weren’t matching. They’re lined up at the Mercedes. The next thing you know, they’ve traded in their duffels for Louis Vuittons.”
However, when the promotion ran into tough times, everybody blamed Dusty Rhodes. Gary Hart even said the words “no loyalty” which has resonated with the American Nightmare. Cody revealed that this is the reason why he wants to document everything so nobody can rewrite his story.
“There’s this bond over it, but it’s also created in me. Maybe it is actually a little bit of the negativity, but it’s created in me. It’s why I try to document everything because I’m not having any motherf**** rewrite my story.”
Cody further added that people are already talking about moments that they weren’t around for. But he refuses to be a scapegoat for them.
“And when I hear about s*** like y’all weren’t there, I was there. If you need me to be the scapegoat for your bulls***, go ahead. But like you won’t do that to me in the same way you did it to him and he didn’t have the luxury.”
Cody also noted that he loves doing this podcast because it helps him get his version of events out there, whether people like it or not.
“One of the reasons I love this podcast, I tell people I don’t, but one of the reasons I love it because it’s out there. I can put this out there. You heard it, you know, and oh, it’s a Cody lie and all that. Nobody the way in this information age, the receipts are out there. Does it fit your narrative? No. Is your favorite wrestler not involved? But I was probably.” [H/T Ringside News]
It’s a good decision on Cody Rhodes’ part to document everything so people don’t try to twist history as they did for Dusty Rhodes.
