Seth Rollins Shares Interesting Stat About WWE History With Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins has a long history with Roman Reigns, but they really don’t have a lot of WWE PLE matches with eachother.
When Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns debuted on the WWE main roster in November 2012 as part of The Shield with Dean Ambrose, they did so as two guys in their mid-20s with very bright futures.
It’s fair to say that both men have lived up to the hype as long-term main eventers, solidifying their status as two of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.
Seth Rollins is a 6-time former WWE World Champion, while Roman Reigns is a 7-time WWE World Champion, who had an incredible 1,316-day reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
In the main event of the June 29th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins challenged the World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns to a title match at SummerSlam on August 1 & 2 in Minneapolis. Rollins made the point that he had the upper hand in their history against eachother.
During a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen Show as the guest host, Seth Rollins remarked that he has only had two 1-on-1 PLE matches against Reigns in their 14-year WWE careers.
“One-on-one, Roman and I have only had… I want to say this will be our third singles pay-per-view match ever. We had one in 2022 at the Royal Rumble, which I won.
And then we had one in 2016 at Money in the Bank, which I also won. But for two guys who’ve been as prominently featured as we are in WWE for the last 14 years, to only have three is pretty wild, I would say.” (H/T Wrestlepurists)
That 2022 Royal Rumble match ended in a disqualification, and Rollins didn’t take the Universal Title from Reigns, but Rollins did win the match.
Seth Rollins also beat Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 41 Saturday main event, a triple threat match that also involved CM Punk. Paul Heyman turned on Punk and Reigns to help Rollins, but that was obviously not a singles match.
The Future Of WWE Is Important To Seth Rollins
As a WWE legend who is closer to the end of his career than he is to the beginning, Seth Rollins spoke openly before WrestleMania 42 about how he thinks about the future of WWE.
“My goal has always been to leave the place better than I found it. A lot of the guys above me are starting to leave, like we just saw with John Cena and AJ Styles retiring in the past four months. That’s going to keep happening more and more as this generation ages out, and we need to start building the future.
I’m closer to the end of my career than the beginning, but I still feel like I have a lot to give. I’m excited to be able to do that as we march forward to WrestleMania.”
The Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins match at SummerSlam will likely headline either night one on August 1st or night two on August 2nd, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
