Two of WWE’s biggest stars are dealing with injuries as Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre are given time off to recover.

The first-ever Men’s and Women’s WarGames matches on the WWE main roster took place at Survivor Series on November 26th.

That WarGames saw Roman Reigns leading The Bloodline (The Usos, Sami Zayn & Solo Sikoa) to victory over The Brawling Brutes team of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Butch, Ridge Holland & Kevin Owens. The match saw Sami Zayn save the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns after Kevin Owens hit Reigns with a Stunner. Zayn stopped the referee’s count while inside the double steel cage. After Owens got in Zayn’s face about it, Zayn hit Owens with a low blow followed by a Helluva Kick. Jey Uso hit a top rope Uso Splash on Owens to get the win for The Bloodline team.

Following the match, there was a report that Roman Reigns was furious with Kevin Owens due to a spot in the match where Owens slapped/punched Reigns a bit too hard on the side of the head leading to Reigns suffering an injury to the report. There was a later report providing clarity while noting that the two men smoothed things over and are expected to work together again when Reigns returns to WWE television.

Reigns isn’t the only one dealing with an eardrum injury because Drew McIntyre is out for that reason too.

Drew McIntyre was supposed to team with Sheamus tonight on Smackdown against The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles, but McIntyre is medically disqualified. Butch will replace McIntyre as Sheamus’ partner in that match.

It was reported in the Wrestling Observer that Reigns and McIntyre are both out of action for right now due to suffering ruptured eardrums at Survivor Series. The injuries are considered a short-term thing with both men expected to be back soon.

In the case of Roman Reigns, he’s not booked for any WWE live events the rest of the year, including post-Christmas shows that include Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 26h.

As for McIntyre, he’s expected to return for the WWE live events post-Christmas including the MSG show on December 26th. McIntyre was injured at Survivor Series, but kept on working including a WWE live event on December 4th in Portland, Maine. When McIntyre was examined after that show, they realized he was hurt and that led to the message that McIntyre posted about being medically disqualified on Monday, December 5th.

Following tonight’s Smackdown in Pittsburgh, the December 16th episode of Smackdown in Chicago is going to be a double taping so that WWE can also tape the December 23rd episode of Smackdown.

UPDATE: On the December 9th edition of Smackdown, it was announced that Reigns will be on Smackdown on December 16th in Chicago.
