Major Update On NXT Wrestlers Getting Called Up To WWE Main Roster Post-WrestleMania
Several former champions in NXT could be heading to the WWE main roster following WrestleMania.
The biggest WWE NXT PLE of the year, Stand & Deliver, took place on April 4th, and it featured some big title changes.
At Stand & Deliver, Lola Vice became the NXT Women’s Champion for the first time, while Tony D’Angelo won the Fatal 4-Way match to become NXT Champion for the first time.
Any time a champion loses a championship this close to WrestleMania, it leads fans to wonder what NXT wrestler might get called up to the main roster after WrestleMania. That’s because it’s happened every year for the last decade, so fans expect it to happen at this point.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote about some of the names being discussed for WWE main roster call-ups.
“Much of the talk in NXT at this point regards call-ups expected after WrestleMania. Vice and D’Angelo winning seems to take their names out of the discussion.
Page, Saints, Monroe and Jayne have all been heavily discussed and Sol Ruca made a very favorable impression on Saturday Night’s Main Event.”
Ethan Page and Ricky Saints are both former NXT Champions in their mid-30s with extensive pro wrestling experience. Blake Monroe is a former NXT Women’s North American Champion who has a very bright future. Jacy Jayne has been part of NXT for over four years and is a 2-time NXT Women’s Champion.
As for Sol Ruca, she is a former NXT Women’s North American Champion who has yet to win the NXT Women’s Title. Ruca also beat Bayley at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025, which shows that WWE officials think highly of her as a future main roster star.
Joe Hendry Appears Ready For WWE Main Roster Spot
Another wrestler Meltzer mentioned as a possible main roster wrestler is the former NXT and TNA World Champion, Joe Hendry. While Hendry officially joined the NXT roster in late 2025, he’s an experienced wrestler who has an act that would likely do well on the main roster, as Meltzer mentioned.
“Joe Hendry is about due for such a call-up given the longer it doesn’t happen, the farther away you are from when his cult popularity peaked in 2024 and he’s 37 years old.
If he’s not called up, it would seem to mean they aren’t confident the act will at this point work on the big stage, although his act with the heavy entertainment and crowd participation is the type of something different that often works on the main roster as a non-main event gimmick personality.”
Joe Hendry has wrestled on the WWE main roster, including WrestleMania 41, when he lost a short match to Randy Orton. While Hendry lost that match decisively, the fans reacted strongly to him, and Orton even had fun with Hendry by doing some of his mannerisms during the match.
The WWE NXT brand has produced many champions on the main roster. The Stand & Deliver 2025 main event was between Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans. One year later, all three guys are competing in WrestleMania 42 matches, which shows that NXT’s system got them ready for the main roster.
