WWE has taken immediate action towards two top stars following a backstage fight.

Last Saturday, Gunther battled Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn in a Triple Threat match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The title shockingly changed hands as The Last Real Good Guy pinned The American Nightmare to become world champion for the first time in his career.

During the Night of Champions post-show, Gunther confronted SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage, accusing him of being jealous and wanting his position before calling him a failed wrestler. Aldis responded by shoving The Ring General, triggering a backstage brawl that required WWE officials to step in.

WWE Issues An Official Statement On The Situation

On tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Michael Cole read an official statement from WWE headquarters regarding the backstage altercation between Gunther and Nick Aldis.

The statement announced that both men had been sent home following the incident. It also revealed that Aldis had been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation, with RAW General Manager Adam Pearce taking over SmackDown for the time being.
