DarkState Spoils Saquan Shugars’ Big Win At NXT Great American Bash

A major WWE grudge match was scheduled for NXT Great American Bash tonight, in addition to the multiple title matches that featured on the show. The night began with Tony D’Angelo retaining his NXT Title against Naraku.

The show featured two non-title matches on the show, both of which were built as massive grudge matches. Former DarkState member, Sauquan Shugars, went right after the group after being taken out.

After torturing the group for weeks, Shugars took on Dion Lennox tonight in Orlando, Florida. The last time both these men shared the ring, they lost their shot at winning the NXT Tag Team Titles, and Shugars was kicked out of the group.

Lennox, along with Osiris Griffin and Cutler James, attacked Shugars following their defeat to the Vanity Project and called him the weak link of the group. Both Shugars and Lennox got a chance to sort out their differences in the ring tonight.

Saquan Shugars had a mixed night at NXT Great American Bash

Shugars dominated for much of the large parts of the match, but Lennox took control once Griffin and James came out to the ringside. With the DarkState members in his corner, Lennox found his groove as he punished Saquan.

Saquan recovered well enough to once again dominate Lennox in the match, but the DarkState leader turned things around with a back suplex onto the top turnbuckle to Shugars.

However, it wasn’t enough to keep the former DarkState member out for long, and he came back in the match again, and he picked up the win on Lennox with a massive splash from the top rope.

Immediately after his win, though, Shugars was attacked by Cutler James and Osiris Griffin, and they hit him with their double team finish. They then held him in place as Lennox hit him with a baseball bat to the gut as the group stood tall.
