Oba Femi Crowned 2026 KOTR At Night Of Champions Despite Tapping Out, WWE Star Reacts
Oba Femi defeated Jey Uso in the opening match of WWE Night of Champions to become the 2026 King of the Ring. However, there is a big controversy.
Femi and Uso took each other to the absolute limit in Saudi Arabia. At one point in their match, Jey Uso hit a Uso Splash on The Ruler for a two-count and quickly followed up with a sleeper hold.
Oba Femi struggled for some time before slamming his left hand on the mat to get the fans behind him. But this very act is being seen by some as Femi tapping out.

Absent WWE star Bronson Reed also recently got involved in the discourse. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Reed stated that while he and Jey Uso are adversaries, the latter should still demand an explanation as to why the match didn’t end when Oba Femi apparently tapped out.
Me and uce are definitely opps but yeet man might wanna run up with the ref after that one.
Tap, tap, tap.
Oba Femi comments on the win over Jey Uso at WWE Night of Champions
Clearly, the match official didn’t see Oba Femi’s aforementioned gesture as a tap out. Hence, the bout continued, eventually leading to Femi’s victory.
Post-match, The Ruler claimed that Jey Uso never had a chance of beating him.
It feels so good to go from a Ruler to being the King. Jey Uso did not understand what he was up against tonight. He thought he was just fighting one man. You might be able to beat one man, but you can’t beat fate. And you can’t beat destiny. And most importantly, you can’t beat me. Because I am The Ruler, The Destroyer, The Bringer of War, The Mountain That You Cannot Climb, The Mountain That You Cannot Conquer, The One of One, The Beast Slayer, The One, The Chosen One, The King of the Ring, Oba Femi!
It will be interesting to see whether Jey Uso demands a rematch against Oba Femi following the controversial incident at Night of Champions.
