WWE NXT performed a massive coup when it signed some of the biggest free agents from around the world, bringing in both Naraku and Mason Rook around the same time.

Rook had developed a huge reputation for himself in the British independent wrestling circuit before being signed by WWE’s developmental brand. Ever since signing with the promotion, Rook has made quite a few enemies on the roster.

He wrestled Naraku in an NXT number one contender’s championship match, but lost to the Japanese legend before suffering another massive loss on the show tonight.

Mason Rook suffers a devastating loss on WWE NXT

Rook was scheduled to face Jackson Drake on tonight’s show, with the winner making a massive leap towards Tony D’Angelo’s NXT Championship,  and the duo put on an entertaining fight.

Mason dominated Drake for most of the match, and even headed towards the win towards the end. He hit a massive sitout powerbomb for a close call, but that’s where things changed for Rook.

As he looked to hit a powerslam on Drake, Myka Lockwood distracted the referee as Ricky Smokes interfered in the match. Rook picked him up on his shoulders and launched him at Brad Baylor on the outside.

Meanwhile, Drake recovered from the beatdown and hit a backstabber on a distracted Rook and Lockwood held his leg, preventing him from gaining a ropebreak and helping Drake win. Rook got up quickly after the match ended and hit a massive clothesline on Baylor. He then picked Smokes off his back and slammed him into Baylor in the ringside as he stood tall in the ring.
