After over a decade of relentless pursuit, Sami Zayn finally became a World Champion last weekend.

He beat Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat Match at Night of Champions on June 27 to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. But former WWE head writer Vince Russo believes his title reign won’t last long.

On the June 29 edition of the Coach and Bro Show, Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo discussed Sami Zayn’s monumental Undisputed WWE Championship victory at Night of Champions.

Sami Zayn Will Lose The World Title At SummerSlam, Says Vince Russo

Coachman asked Vince Russo if he sees Sami Zayn having a lengthy World Championship reign, to which Vince Russo replied that The Underdog from the Underground won’t be a World Champion for a long time.

There’s no way; there’s no way they can go with this for a lengthy period of time. Absolutely no way, no way.”

Coachman then asked if he thinks Sami Zayn will still be the Undisputed WWE Champion after SummerSlam. Vince predicted that Sami will lose the title at the August premium live event.

When is SummerSlam? August 1st and 2nd? That’s only six weeks away. Four weeks away, and 2 actually. Through SummerSlam, but that’s it. This will be over at SummerSlam. (From 28:12 to 28:33)”

Dave Meltzer also said the same on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He thinks Sami Zayn’s World Championship reign will not last long, but he hopes that at least he’ll make it through SummerSlam as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

I don’t see a long reign, but I would hope it’s longer than SummerSlam. You know, I mean, long enough to where it’s not like one of those things where it’s like, well, we finally gave it to him, but we didn’t mean it, you know.”
