Mick Foley Reveals If He May Have A Match In AEW, Mentions Possible Opponent
The WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley opened up on the possibility of wrestling a match in AEW, while also revealing his dream opponent.
Mick Foley last competed in the WWE Royal Rumble 2012 match before he retired. He was also associated with the Stamford-based promotion for a long time under a legends deal until parting ways with the company months ago. During the Double or Nothing 2026 pre-show, Mick made his AEW debut and had a heated segment with MJF, who put him down with a low blow.
Following his AEW arrival, the wrestling community is expecting Mick Foley to make his in-ring return as well. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Foley teased coming out of retirement, stating he has one more last good match in him:
It’s definitely crossed my mind. The cinematic matches have opened up the door for guys whose cardio might be suspect. This loss of 100 pounds made my life so much easier. I used to have to stop a couple of times walking up a moderate hill.”
Now, I’m realizing that I’m not really getting winded like I used to. I don’t know. Clearly, if I had a match, it would be a match that would have to avoid trauma to the head. Luckily, there is a whole lot of me to traumatize below the neck. I think I have one more last good match in me,” said Mick.
Mick Foley on potentially wrestling in AEW and his dream opponent
Speaking with Going Ringside, Mick Foley recalled his comments about a possible in-ring return after AEW move during the Ariel Helwani interview:
I had this great, 30-minute conversation with Ariel Helwani. He asked me about the possibility of one more match. I said, ‘Hey, you never know.’ I did say, ‘If the stars are aligned.’ But we have to see how the stars align, and I’d have to be in really good shape and feel like I could have a match that wouldn’t disappoint people.”
Foley also revealed the top AEW star, Darby Allin, as his dream opponent, while disclosing his current health condition:
I pointed out to Darby that I am on record as saying he would be a dream opponent. You never know what the future may bring. I’m down a lot of weight, but my cardio is suspect at best. And I’d still have to lose another 30 pounds just to be in poor condition. So we’ll see if there’s some changes in the next year.” [h/t f4wonline.com]
It remains to be seen if Mick Foley will actually wrestle in AEW.
