Recent developments in Mike Santana’s case could be a sign that he may have wrestled his last match for TNA.

Santana defended the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary amid reports of WWE’s interest in signing him.

The reports of WWE’s interest in him emerged in early June, with the company’s higher-ups keeping a close eye on his contract length with the Nashville-based promotion.

The officials were also said to be impressed by his in-ring acumen, work ethic, and professionalism backstage.

During the June 28 pay-per-view, Mike Santana put his TNA World Championship against Nic Nemeth, who had invoked his Call Your Shot title opportunity.

At one point during the bout, Ryan Nemeth made his presence felt by distracting the champion. It allowed Nic to hit him with the Call Your Shot trophy, leading to Santana getting busted open.

Despite being opened up, Santana continued to press forward, but the constant blood loss became the ultimate factor that would decide his fate.

In a back-and-forth fight, Santana attempted a Spin the Block, but his legs gave out due to excessive blood loss. Nic Nemeth capitalized on it and hit him with a Danger Zone for the victory.

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Santana dropping the title was a massive sign that he was WWE-bound.

TNA, it appears he’s going to WWE almost for sure. And he should, you know, it’s time, it’s time for him to go.

Neither World Wrestling Entertainment nor Total Nonstop Action has released any statement confirming the signing or departure of Mike Santana. However, his TNA deal is nearing its end, and with the Stamford promotion expressing an interest, it may be the right destination for him.

Mike Santana Has Competed In WWE Before

Despite never officially representing WWE, Mike Santana has wrestled in the company before, which was possible due to the promotion’s working relationship with TNA that allowed the occasional swapping of talents.

His first appearance was at the 2025 NXT Battleground: Tampa in a backstage segment, where he was confronted by Charley Dempsey and Tavion Heights of No Quarter Catch Crew (NQCC).

He made his in-ring debut a couple of days later, defeating Heights on NXT. Santana later challenged Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship on NXT, but failed to win after interference from AJ Francis and KC Navarro.

Santana was also part of the invasion angle in September, where TNA went head-to-head with WWE’s NXT brand.

On the October 7 episode of NXT, labeled ‘Showdown,’ Santana participated in a Survivor Series-style match between the two promotions, where Team TNA defeated Team NXT.

The 35-year-old also teamed up with OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Pierce) to defeat DarkState on the March 31, 2026, edition of NXT. With a reasonable amount of time spent in the Stamford promotion, Santana could be said to feel at home whenever he officially signs with it.
