Amid the latest roster shake-up, WWE has shown interest in signing a World Champion from a different promotion.

Mike Santana is the current TNA World Champion in his second reign.

Santana became a singles major champion for the first time at last year’s Bound of Glory, where he defeated then-NXT star Trick Williams, who was also the TNA title-holder.

A month later, he dropped the belt to company veteran Frankie Kazarian, who cashed in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet from his namesake tournament victory at Bound for Glory.

During TNA’s AMC debut on January 15, Santana faced Kazarian for the TNA title, which he won and became a two-time World Champion. He successfully defended the title against the 48-year-old at Genesis a couple of days later.

Since then, the 35-year-old has defended the championship at multiple pay-per-views and TNA tapings.

WWE Keen To Hire Mike Santana

Mike Santana’s constant persistence has led to him falling on WWE’s radar, who are said to have been keeping a close eye on him.

The company’s interest is seemingly due to Santana becoming a free agent this year, with his TNA contract ending in the summer.

As reported by WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, not only is there strong support for Santana to be brought into the Stamford promotion, but he also has support from at least one active WWE superstar on the main roster.

His work ethic and professionalism are also said to have been the contributing factors behind the company’s interest in him.

WrestleVotes, however, did not specify which brand Santana might be assigned to. Although he did say that they would want to bring him on board by the end of the year if he signs with them.

Mike Santana began his wrestling journey in 2007 in the American independent circuit. He has appeared in various promotions, including House of Glory, Combat Zone Wrestling, and All Elite Wrestling.

Santana also got the chance to make appearances and wrestle in WWE due to its multi-year partnership with TNA, which was announced in early 2025.

The 35-year-old was an integral part of the ‘Invasion’ storyline involving NXT and TNA. At NXT Showdown in October last year, he represented Team TNA in a Survivor Series Style Elimination match.

More recently, he teamed up with OTM’s Bronco Nima and Lucien Pierce to defeat DarkState, which at the time also included Saquon Shugars.
