Bryan Danielson Discusses Arm Injury; Never Feels 100%

Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson has given an update on his health after his recent broken arm.

At Forbidden Door 2023, Bryan Danielson defeated NJPW star Kazuchika Okada in a dream match but it did not come without cost to The American Dragon.

During the bout, Danielson suffered a broken arm but continued wrestling with the injury for several minutes which only exacerbated his condition. The injury kept Bryan Danielson out of action for three months meaning he missed the historic All In show at Wembley Stadium but he returned one week later at All Out to fill in the huge gap left by CM Punk as he took on Ricky Starks in a brutal Strap Match.

Speaking to Sports Nightly, Bryan Danielson addressed his arm issues and noted that now he has a metal rod in place, it could be easier to break again:

“It’s doing okay. I think by continually wrestling on it, I’m slowing it down from healing 100%. Us older wrestlers like to say, we never anticipated being 100% ever again. So I think that’s kind of where I’m at. It’s fully functional. I can do pull-ups and I can do all these different sorts of things. There’s nothing that’s going to happen to the bone because they put a rod in it with nine screws.

“The dangerous part, the doctor said, is actually where, if it were to break again, it’s easier to break where the rod ends, because the rod itself acts as a fulcrum that it could bend against. But then really, it’s like the nerve and muscle damage. Part of that is because I wrestled for 10 minutes with a broken arm and then part of it is just the work that we do.”

Bryan Danielson takes on Christian Cage in big title match

Bryan Danielson recently suffered his first singles loss since returning from his injury on the 14th of October edition of Collision when he challenged Christian Cage for the TNT Championship.

Danielson lost out to Cage after interference from Ricky Starks who clocked Danielson in the head with his AEW Tag Team Championship belt.
