The WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens will have to defend their titles against the former champions on an upcoming edition of Smackdown.

In the main event of WrestleMania 39 Saturday on April 1st, The Usos defended the Smackdown Tag Team Titles against Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens. it was the first time that a WWE Tag Team Title match headlined a WrestleMania.

Going into that match, The Usos held the Smackdown Tag Team Titles for 622 days, which was easily the longest Tag Team Title reign in World Wrestling Entertainment history. They held the Raw Tag Team Titles for about ten months going into the match as well.

When the bell rang, the four men went on to have an incredible tag team match that went nearly 25 minutes with Zayn & Owens kicking out of everything The Usos fired at them. Zayn & Owens found a way to win to become the new Undisputed (Raw & Smackdown) WWE Tag Team Champions.

The WrestleMania 39 Tag Team Title match earned a lot of praise from fans and critics alike. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer rated it five stars while I also rated it five stars during my live review.

On the April 14th edition of Smackdown, prior to the Solo Sikoa match against Matt Riddle, Paul Heyman had an announcement. Heyman said it was official that The Usos will get a rematch against Zayn & Owens in two weeks on the April 28th edition of Smackdown in Corpus Christi, Texas. Heyman called it the “biggest tag team match in the history of Smackdown” while adding that Owens & Zayn will lose their titles to The Usos.

Heyman also mentioned that The Tribal Chief (Roman Reigns) is losing patience with The Usos, so the pressure is on for the former champions.

That April 28th edition of Smackdown will be a busy night for WWE because it’s also the start of the WWE Draft as well.
