WWE Announces When 2023 Draft Will Take Place

WWE Draft

The 2023 WWE Draft has a start date as announced during this week’s episode of Smackdown.

During the April 7th edition of Smackdown, which was the blue brand’s first show following WrestleMania 39, WWE’s Chief Operating Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced that the 2023 WWE Draft was coming soon. Triple H would go on to say that every single superstar was eligible for it while adding that it will “truly change the game.”

What Triple H didn’t say in that promo is when the actual WWE Draft would take place. It seems like WWE was still figuring that out, which is why it was not mentioned. There was a report that it might be on May 8th, two days after Backlash, but that wasn’t official.

On this week’s April 14th edition of Smackdown, it was announced that the WWE Draft begins in two weeks on the April 28th edition of Smackdown in Corpus Christi, TX, and continues the next Monday on the May 1st edition of Raw in Fort Worth, Texas.

That would mean that the WWE Draft will be completed before the WWE Backlash Premium Live Event takes place on Saturday, May 6th in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

What isn’t known right now is if WWE will be more strict about the roster split/brand extension compared to how they are now with plenty of wrestlers appearing on both shows regularly. For example, Solo Sikoa main evented both Raw and Smackdown this week. Whether that happens following the next roster split is not known right now.

Below is the graphic that was shown during the brief commercial that aired promoting the draft.
