WWE Star Seth Rollins Confesses: “I Was Very Happy To Come Through That Physically Relatively Unscathed”
Seth Rollins expressed that he is fortunate to come out unscathed after his recent match involving a lot of physicality.
After months of absence due to injury, Seth Rollins made his in-ring return with a match against Gunther at WrestleMania 42. It was their first one-on-one encounter on a big stage, and the two absolutely delivered an amazing match. It was largely considered the best match of Night 1 of Mania 42 as well.
As his first match back from injury was against The Ring General, it was physically challenging for Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins is happy to be physically unscathed after WrestleMania 42
In his recent official interview with WWE, Seth Rollins opened up on the physical challenge of facing Gunther right after the return from injury:
Being in the ring with someone like GUNTHER is an experience unto itself. First match back after six months on the shelf, so the physical side of things was a bit of a trial. I don’t recover like I used to. When I was in my 20s I felt like I could just reset every day, it didn’t matter what came before. Now, it’s just a different animal.”
Rollins further opened up on his recovery for the past few months and compared it with his injury back in 2015:
And this recovery from this surgery was I think the hardest recovery I’ve ever had. Even with the full knee that I did in 2015, I was just a young man, nothing bothered me. This was hard. This was a very difficult recovery. It was painful, it was slow. I think I’m getting better every day. I was really happy to get through WrestleMania and not have what I felt was a regression”
The Visionary concluded that he was concerned about the physicality of his match with Gunther, but is fortunate that he is unscathed after the challenging match at WrestleMania 42:
I was concerned that just the physicality of the match with GUNTHER would cause some sort of regression or re-injury. It’s so hard, because when you go into a match like that, you can’t be hyper-focused on taking care of yourself. You’ve kinda got to let it all go and just hope that your preparation has got you where you need to be. So I was very happy to come through that physically relatively unscathed.” [h/t WrestleTalk]
Meanwhile, Seth Rollins is slated to take on Bron Breakker this Saturday at Backlash 2026.
