WWE Creative Team Criticized For Repetitive Storytelling
WWE has received criticism for repetitive storytelling, this time in the case of Jacob Fatu.
On last week’s SmackDown, The Samoan Werewolf was scheduled to face Drew McIntyre to determine the #1 Contender for Cody Rhodes’ championship.
However, he was assaulted backstage by an unknown attacker, who left him laid out, bleeding.
McIntyre denied having anything to do with the attack on Fatu. Subsequently, the 33-year-old was written out for the foreseeable future.
Outside the kayfabe, Jacob Fatu faces genuine health concerns amid ongoing dental procedures.
Former WWE writer Vince Russo has criticized the creative team for introducing a whodunnit angle, something the promotion accomplished in telling earlier this year.
Appearing on a recent episode of the BroDown podcast, Russo accused the promotion of repeating Jade Cargill’s story.
It’s like, seriously, I swear to God, the whodunnit with Fatu. They did that same thing with Jade Cargill. The same exact thing.
Drew McIntyre To Challenge Cody Rhodes For Undisputed WWE Championship
Cody Rhodes was livid due to the attack carried out on Jacob Fatu.
The Scottish Warrior’s denial was ignored by Rhodes, who deemed him guilty. Rhodes then challenged McIntyre for an impromptu title match.
In the closing minutes of the match, The American Nightmare hit his opponent with the title, causing a disqualification.
It was later announced that Drew McIntyre would challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1.
Also on the show, Tiffany Stratton will defend her title against Jade Cargill.
CM Punk and Jey Uso will fight out out to determine the new World Heavyweight Champion, with the title vacated on the latest RAW taping due to Seth Rollins’ injury.
