WWE’s Backstage Reaction To Backlash Over Jey Uso’s Recent Push
Not everyone is happy with the way Jey Uso’s storyline has progressed in recent times.
The online reaction has been somewhat negative, but WWE is committed to remaining focused on its planned storytelling.
Apparently, the YouTube video showing Uso’s battle royal win on the latest RAW episode has received over 90,000 dislikes as compared to 15,000 likes.
This reaction certainly does not reflect well on the Stamford promotion’s telling of Jey’s story, but it appears unbothered.
Fightful Select reports that the company does not consider online reactions as a metric that would force them to alter their narration.
WWE also seemingly questions the accuracy and authenticity of dislikes, as they are not available for public view and can only be seen by using third-party add-ons and other similar tools.
Of late, the promotion’s creative has received flak for mishandling the stories of various top wrestlers. However, the writers and officials are uninterested in pivoting from their original plans.
Jey Uso, meanwhile, faces a tall order, with the top prize up for grabs.
Jey Uso To Face CM Punk For WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Jey Uso not only won the battle royal on WWE RAW, but he also betrayed his brother, Jimmy Uso, while doing so.
Nevertheless, he is now officially in contention to become the next World Heavyweight Champion, as only CM Punk stands in his way.
Punk and Jey Uso will fight it out at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1, with the winner crowned the new champion.
The World Heavyweight Championship was vacated earlier in the night, after it was revealed that Seth Rollins had injured himself at Crown Jewel.
The injury led to Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman turning their backs on Rollins on the subsequent RAW episode.
