Surprising Grudge Match Announced For WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE recently hosted the Night of Champions Premium Live Event this past weekend at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The show turned out to be an exciting one and saw the crowning of a new WWE Champion.

With one eye on the SummerSlam 2026, the Stamford-based promotion is building towards this month’s Saturday Night’s Main Event as well. The 45th edition of the show should be a special one, with it being aired from Madison Square Garden.

The promotion announced the first match for the upcoming show during tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown as they made a grudge match official for the show.

Danhausen set for another WWE match

It might come as a surprise for most fans, but the first match confirmed for SNME will see Danhausen take on JD McDonagh in singles action. The former AEW star has been feuding with the Judgment Day for a few weeks.

After putting The Miz and Kit Wilson to the side for a while, Danhausen finds himself on the wrong side of the Judgment Day after he cursed Liv Morgan at Night of Champions and she lost in the Queen of the Ring finals.

Following her loss, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDongah trashed Danhausen’s lab this past Monday Night on RAW and this led to the SNME match between JD and Danhausen.
