Wrestling retirements are not set in stone. But Pat McAfee’s case might be different.

McAfee created a lot of buzz earlier this year when he teamed up with Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes in the buildup to WrestleMania 42. McAfee’s involvement in Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes’ storyline caused tons of frustration among the WWE Universe.

Amid fan criticism, he made a major announcement, claiming that he would retire from WWE if Randy Orton failed to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.

Unfortunately, Randy Orton failed, and Pat McAfee had to retire from WWE. Fans thought that McAfee’s retirement was only for storyline purposes and that he might eventually return to the Stamford-based promotion. But according to the latest report, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Fans Won’t See Pat McAfee In WWE Anytime Soon

Sportskeeda Wrestling recently published a report stating that McAfee is “done with WWE and will likely not be returning to the company anytime soon,” either as a manager or a commentator.

The report noted that WWE got him involved in Randy Orton’s storyline to give him an exit storyline, thus properly ending his tenure with the company.

The report added that the Stamford-based promotion was planning to bring him back for some big shows, but that’s not going to happen in the near future since “he’s currently done” with WWE.

“Pat McAfee is done with WWE. He will likely not be returning to the company anytime soon. While the entire leave and never return gimmick seemed overblown at first, it’s what the company has planned for him.

It was a way for him to finish up, and even then, it was because of TKO’s call that he had been involved in the first place. The star is not returning to the announcement desk either, with them happy with Corey Graves and Michael Cole working together.”

There has been talk of bringing him back for a couple of big shows so he won’t need to be on the road regularly, which was the entire issue, as his schedule had become untenable and he was physically and mentally exhausted. But he’s currently done, and no future dates are in sight. He’s done.”
