Serious Discussions Held About Major Chad Gable Appearance Outside WWE
There have been discussions regarding Chad Gable potentially making an appearance on a major promotion outside the WWE.
Before his WWE debut in 2014, Chad Gable competed in amateur freestyle wrestling and also represented the USA in the 2012 London Olympic Games. He also achieved immense popularity during his time in the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut. Since last year, Gable has been playing the ‘El Grande Americano’ luchador gimmick, which ended after he lost to the new El Grande Americano (aka Ludwig Kaiser) in an incredible mask vs mask match at a AAA event recently.
After he is back to his original persona, Chad Gable is more popular than before, and fans want to see him do big things in the WWE going forward. Meanwhile, there are discussions regarding Gable possibly appearing on the Real American Freestyle (RAF) as well. RAF is a freestyle pro wrestling promotion that was started by Eric Bischoff and the late great Hulk Hogan last year.
Chad Gable appearing on the major promotion outside WWE could be “a matter of time”
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast recently, Eric Bischoff revealed that Chad Gable is sniffing around Real American Freestyle (RAF) promotion due to his background in amateur wrestling. Bischoff also opened up on the contractual issues when bringing WWE names to RAF, but there are serious discussions regarding Gable’s possible appearance on the promotion:
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Chad Gable is a phenomenal, phenomenal amateur wrestler and is kind of sniffing around Real American Freestyle, just throwing it out there. We’re talking about it. There’s some contractual issues that can kind of make that difficult [when trying to get WWE names over to RAF], but we’re having discussions and relatively serious ones,” Bischoff disclosed.
Eric Bischoff also declared that it’s just a matter of time before Chad Gable will be on RAF, but refused to mention any other names who could be on his promotion:
So I think it’s just a matter of time. But also, I’m not going to mention any names, but I was having a conversation not too long ago with someone we all know, and [they’re] very excited about what we’re doing at Real American Freestyle. Again, comes from a collegiate amateur wrestling background.” [f4wonline.com]
